Introduction
Hj Muhd. Fadhil Bin Hj Hamdani, 25, is the featured amateur graphic artist this time. Graduated from University Technology Brunei, majoring in Digital Media. Hailed from Kg. Mulaut, Brunei Muara. Art is in the blood for this artist, his whole family apart from his mother, is involve in art in one way or another. He was introduced to art at a young age of 5 years old.
His first major accolade, was a third place finish at coloring contest at age of 7, which won him a pair of tickets to the Disney on ice show.
One of his biggest achievement would be his design for ‘Kawin Letop’ expo when he was interning at Battlepro Marketing and Management Service where his designs was used as a banner at the ICC for the public eyes to see.
Inspiration
In this batch, we have 3 different designs that shows the creative side of the man. We asked Fadhil on his inspiration behind his creations. So let’s dive into the first design
BU. RU. NA. I
He was always fascinated with the Japanese culture and pronunciation. So he went to find out how actual Japanese people pronounce “Brunei” and found out that they actually pronounce it as Bu. Ru. Na. I. So he decided to pay an tribute to the Japanese pronunciation of Brunei by using the Japanese Kanji letters with a hint of the Bruneian flag embedded in the the designs.
The fusion of culture in this design not only attract the interest of the Bruneian people but will also be an interesting concept for the Japanese people
Off;
Lately, due to the victim mentality culture, people get offended by almost anything. Some even get offended by the things that they have been instructed to do for the safety of themselves as well as the people around them. The skulls represents the backward thinking of human being, where they are only thinking about their own well being while not caring about the rest of the people around them. The different colors signifies the different races of the human being. It shows that no matter what our skin colour is, we are the same underneath. This is a call for action design to tell people that we should be taking care of each other as well as ourselves.
Sacred Spirit
Mandala is a pattern from the Indian culture that is inspired by the pattern of a peacock feather. The design is targeted toward the people who appreciates the beauty and elegance of a peacock and how it translate to the beauty and the elegance of the t-shirt wearer.
Closing remarks
He hopes that one day that he will be one of the top designers in Brunei and he also hope that Bruneian community will show love and support toward the ever growing creative minds in Brunei. #supportlocal
